Slamming the Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus' suggestion to set the minimum voting age at 17, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) on Saturday said that it would put pressure on the Election Commission and could also delay the election process. During a discussion at the Jatiya Press Club in Dhaka, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that lowering the voting age to 17 will necessitate the preparation of a new voter list.

Dr Manmohan Singh passed away at AIIMS, Delhi, on Thursday evening at the age of 92 due to age-related medical conditions. Suddenly, he had a loss of consciousness at home after which he was rushed to the AIIMS Delhi. Manmohan Singh was born on September 26, 1932. Apart from being an economist, he served as Reserve Bank of India governor from 1982-1985. Significantly, he was the 13th PM of India with his tenure from 2004-2014 and was the longest-serving PM after Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi.

Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a further drop in temperatures across the Delhi-NCR, Punjab, Haryana, and Rajasthan regions over the next two days. According to Naresh Kumar, a scientist at IMD, a western disturbance currently located near Punjab and adjoining areas is likely to cause light rain or snowfall in isolated parts of the western Himalayan region. Islamabad: A special court in Islamabad on Thursday indicted Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder-chairman Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, in the new Toshakhana case, Geo News reported. The case is also known as the jewellery set case. Special Court Central-I Judge Central Shahrukh Arjumand, who presided over the hearing at Rawalpindi's Adiala jail, framed the charges on Khan and Bushra.

The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) has announced the schedule for the Class 12 final theory examinations in 2025. The examination will be held from February 1 to 15. For Class 10 (Matric) final examinations will be held from February 17 to 25.

In a landmark judgment, the Supreme Court of India has dismissed a plea seeking relaxation on the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP)-IV for pollution control in Delhi. While hearing a petition for relaxation of measures taken under GRAP-IV, the court asserted that it would only entertain any petition seeking relaxation from it when pollution levels display a consistent downward trend.
