New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a hectic schedule in the past five days where he participated in at least 31 bilateral meetings and informal interactions with global leaders during his three-nation foreign visit. According to the statement released by the Prime Minister's Office, he held a bilateral meeting in Nigeria and ten bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in Brazil. Thereafter, during the visit to Guyana, he held at least nine bilateral meetings.

In a maritime incident on Thursday, a fishing vessel with 13 crew members collided with an Indian Navy submarine approximately 70 nautical miles off the Goa coast. As per officials, the Indian Navy promptly initiated a large-scale rescue operation, successfully saving 11 of the crew members. Efforts are ongoing to locate the remaining individuals. Details surrounding the collision and the condition of the submarine are yet to be disclosed. 
The Delhi High Court on Thursday issued notice to the Enforcement Directorate on a plea moved by former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal challenging the trial court’s decision to take cognisance of the Enforcement Directorate’s prosecution complaints in the Excise Policy case, citing lack of sanction. The HC has fixed December 20 2024 for a detailed hearing. The Delhi High Court on Thursday however refused to stay for now the trial proceedings against Arvind Kejriwal who is an accused in a case of irregularities linked to the Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22. Kejriwal sought setting aside of the trial court order and argued cognisance of the chargesheet was taken by the special court in the absence of any sanction for his prosecution as he was a public servant when the alleged offence was committed. However, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, appearing for the ED, submitted a sanction was obtained to prosecute Kejriwal and he would be filing an affidavit.
During the by-elections on nine seats in Uttar Pradesh, the Samajwadi Party has accused policemen of threatening voters in many places. Taking cognizance of the complaints of the SP, the Election Commission has suspended seven policemen. According to the information, two inspectors Arun Singh and Rakesh Nadar have been suspended in Sisamau. They are accused of misbehaving with voters and violating the guidelines of the Election Commission.

The Gujarat Police on Monday arrested 15 second-year students of a medical college in Gujarat's Patan district after a first-year student died during the ragging. The police have charged them with culpable homicide not amounting to murder. According to the FIR filed by the college authorities, they were booked for culpable homicide not amounting to murder among other offences, it said.

A seven-year-old boy from Greater Noida underwent surgery on his right eye instead of his left eye at Anand Spectrum Hospital, Sector Gamma 1 after surgery. When the boy's family realised his mistake, they reported that they met with the doctor and his staff and tortured him. A complaint was later filed with the Medical Director, seeking the revocation of the doctor's licence and the closure of the hospital.

In Jharkhand, the BJP-led NDA is looking to oust the JMM-led coalition, with key candidates like former Chief Minister Champai Soren and Congress leader Ajoy Kumar in the fray. Jharkhand will hold elections in two phases on November 13 and 20, with the first phase covering 43 seats. Elaborate security arrangements have been made for polling, which commenced at 7:00 am and will continue until 5:00 pm. Returning Officer for the Ranchi Assembly constituency, Utkarsh Kumar, said that the mock poll began at 5:30 am. Key candidates in the first phase include former Chief Minister and BJP candidate Champai Soren, who is contesting from Seraikella. In Jamshedpur East, Congress leader Ajoy Kumar is pitted against Purnima Das Sahu, daughter-in-law of former Jharkhand Chief Minister and Odisha Governor Raghubar Das. In Jamshedpur West, Congress leader Banna Gupta is up against JD(U) leader Saryu Roy, who had defeated Raghubar Das in the previous election. In Jaganathpur, BJP's Geeta Koda, wife of former Chief Minister Madhu Koda, is contesting against Congress leader Sona Ram Sinku.
